Avon – True Colour Eyeshadow Quad in Mocha Latte– Swatches and Look

Avon – True Colour Eyeshadow Quad in Mocha Latte– Swatches and Look

Sorry I’ve been a bit slack in getting more regular content on here, we have been in the process of moving and getting settled. Hopefully now I will have more time to do some regular posts.

This is just a quick “review” of Avon’s True Colour Eyeshadow Quad in the colour Mocha Latte.

The colours in the quad are Latte (slight shimmer), Beige (matte), Iced Coffee (shimmer) and Espresso (matte). This is a great multi use quad for myself.  I use the Latte for highlighting and the Beige for contouring. I also use a mix of the Beige and Espresso to do my brows. You can create pretty much a whole look from this one quad.

The highlight colour – latte – is not very pigmented so you do have to work it a bit to get the coverage that you might like or need. The other 3 colours however are quite pigmented, Beige and Espresso more than the Iced Coffee.

For a natural / neutral look I really like this palette. The only complaint I would have is that you can't buy the colours separately when they run out. My Iced Coffee will run out long before the others as its a lovely brown, coppery colour with just the right amount of shimmer.

I used the following products – the only product that is not in the picture us the Magix Face Perfector which I used for my primer.

All products are by Avon and are as follows left to right

  • True Colour Blush – Earthen Rose – Matte blush – a bit darker than my skin tone
  • True Colour Blush – Golden Glow – Peach blush with shimmer
  • Ideal Shade Crème to Powder Foundation SPF15 in Ivory
  • Moisturiser – Anew Genics Treatment Cream
  • Mascara – Avon One Great in Black
  • Eyeliner Glimmersticks Eyeliner in Cosmic Brown
  • Lipstick – Simply Pretty in True Rose
  • True Colour Eyeshadow Quad in Mocha Latte Q110

    After

Overall this is a good every day eyeshadow quad.  The current RRP is $29.99 however you can normally get it on special with Avon for $19.99.

Disclaimer: Please note I am currently a representative with Avon, however I am not paid by Avon and all these products were purchased by myself for personal use.

I Love this Box November (yes a bit late)!

I was going to do a post on the November I Love This Box subscription but I read something today that I really liked so I am going to take the advice. You can read about the subscription in Australia from a few blogs, I'd recommend Makeup and Macaroons, Lilit has a great post about the box and what comes inside.

I thought it would be fun to get a monthly subscription of beauty products rather than a magazine and I wasn't disappointed with what came. The monthly subscription cost $14.95 and this includes delivery. If you want to get a box of goodies once a month in the mail then I would be checking them out.

However I read today about reading blogs and about how you read the same stuff in various forms on alot of different blogs, so I decided that I am going to do blog posts on things that I am using or items of interest or random posts. I'd rather talk about what I know than try and be up there with the best beauty bloggers!

Thanks for reading! and I'll see you soon with a post!

Ding Dong, Avon IS calling

Before you run off and stop reading let me tell you why I think Avon is a great business. They have quality products at reasonable prices and offer a supportive environment to run your own business. You can be involved as little or as much as you like, same as everything in life, what you put in is what you get out of it. You can view and order through their ebrochure online which goes through your Representative. Currently I am signed up as a personal shopper which means I can order for myself and get delivery to my door, as well as access to deals that the usual customers don't get.

They also support Women's issues, two in particular, and that is Breast Cancer and Domestic Violence. And yes that is Reece Witherspoon in the picture.

Avon also support a no testing on animals policy, and lists the ingredients of their products on their website.

For personal use, and I have a couple of their lipsticks in my kit that I use, I think Avon has some great products. Right now I am loving their Super Shock Max Mascara, which is out in the next campaign, I was lucky enough to get one for free (thanks Mum!) and its my daily mascara.
So in the next few posts, I will do a what's in my makeup bag, products that I use on a daily basis to put my face on so to speak :)

Until then, stay safe and happy!

Leopard Print Makeup

So I had my work christmas party to go to and we were going to an African themed steakhouse. The invitation said to wear something african inspired, so I decided to go with a bit of leopard inspired print on my face as I didnt want to buy anything leopard print to wear or fully dress up.

Please bear in mind the photo was taken at the end of the evening ie 4 hours after we got there, 6 hours after makeup application and a few drinks later!  !

I tried to keep my makeup with the theme as well using browns, bronzes and gold.

I Love This Box!

I recently received my I Love This Box November subscription box. It has a heap of goodies and comes once a month on subscription. I can't wait to show you what's in the box, although you've probably seen them already on other people's blogs.

This month there is hair care, nail polish, face tanning and some other samples in there. Stayed tuned for some pictures and a more in depth look at the box.

I am also going to be doing some product reviews. Couple of products that I have been using that I want to share with you!

My Certificate has arrived!

So yesterday I got an envelope in the mail which made me very excited!

My certificate arrived looking all official for my course!

I now am a qualified makeup artist and my qualification is Certificate II in Retail Make-Up and Skin Care (SIB20110).

Even if nothing ever comes of doing the course I am very glad that I enrolled and persevered each week to turn up, which isn't easy when you work full time and then fell like you are giving up half your weekend - but it's worth it! The classes were fun and informative and I met other people who had a similar passion for all things makeup.

If you are in the Brisbane area I would highly recommend checking out the Australian Institute of Creative Design. Many thanks goes out to the other students and my teachers Carla and Michelle who made the course so great with their knowledge and enthusiasm for what they do. You guys rock!

Photos

So as part of our course we got to do a photo shoot with a photographer. We had to have a makeup look picked out and a model to come along to do our look on. It was also an assessment day of our makeup as well as the shoot.

My niece was my model and I wanted to do a bit of a different look. Purple smokey eye with a slight 80's according to some costume!

The pictures turned out great and the makeup looks pretty good too! Thanks to Summer Lily Photography for the great photos!

Hope you enjoy the pics :)
